1H 2023 Review: Ocean Freight Settled, Time to Focus on 2024 Inventory Planning
From our viewpoint, the first half of 2023 was certainly down compared to the boom of 2022 demand. Interest rates have slowed construction and building material suppliers seemed to be using the first half of this year to deplete the inventory they had in stock from the slow Q4 of 2022. H2 has already had more movement of material and we are optimistic for demands of Q4 and 2024.
Slow global demand has brought ocean freight rates back in line which improves the cost position for Performance Additives’ customers and we have been passing these savings along as soon as inventories allow.
It is never too early to start thinking about the Christmas holiday rush and Lunar New Year 2024 which will have a bump in cost of ocean freight and also will tighten capacity.
If you are planning to ramp up any products for 2024, please consult with your Performance Additives sales representative so that we can put a plan together now.
